CLAIMS TO BE "WORLD CLASS UNIVERSITY", THE REALITY OF INTERNATIONAL CLASS IN THE EYES OF STUDENTS OF TELKOM UNIVERSITY?

Telkom University is an educational institution committed to becoming a world-class university that plays an active role in the development of information technology-based science. Quoted from the official website of Telkom University, Rector of Telkom University (Tel-U), Prof. Ir. Mochamad Ashari, M. Eng, PhD said the target of making Tel-U an international standard campus or World Class University (WCU) could not be achieved overnight. It takes time and hard work to achieve it through the quality and reputation of the institution. Being a campus with A accreditation is the ideals of Telkom University which previously had pocketed accreditation B while still being the Telkom Institute of Technology. These ideals need support and hard work of all elements to make it a reality.
One indicator that supports Telkom University as a World Class University (WCU) is the existence of an international class that is part of the study program at Telkom University with learning material delivered in English, which includes lectures, internships, examinations, theses, trials, scientific publications, and others. The lecture curriculum used in the international class is the same as the curriculum in the regular program, with the addition of some international activities and certifications, including Edutrip; each graduate has at least one international certification, with the type of certification determined by the University that is tailored to the science of the Study Program; internship with foreign companies or multinational companies; student exchange / transferable credit earnings at foreign universities, shorter study periods, 3.5 years (the period of regular class study is 4 years).
Besides, several international class differentiating facilities, including each special classroom designated for one class; classrooms equipped with multimedia equipment; classroom and classroom design facilitates learning and discussion; classrooms are placed in the Tokong Nanas Building, Telkom University, which is equipped with an academic lounge to be together. The University also provides assistance in strengthening English language skills, for students who need it, by way of before the first semester lectures, new students get English Preparation; during the first year, students get assistance in improving English from the Language Center; lecturers in the international class are lecturers in the regular program, who are assigned to meet the requirements to be able to teach in international classes.

International students at Telkom University conduct their lecture sessions at the Public Lecture Building (GKU) on the 8th and 9th floors. The facilities obtained by international students are quite different from the regular ones. However, based on interview data with several international students at Telkom University, many facilities are inadequate to be called a world-class university. For example such as the absence of handwashing soap in some toilets. "For international class facilities in Telkom, in my opinion, there are still many shortcomings. For example, like soap in an empty toilet, gallon water in the classroom is sometimes dirty, there is a broken chair on the 9th floor. If it is true that Wolrd Class University, all facilities must be good because we are also required to pay double the regular amount, "said Nur Syaidah, a class of Telkom University international class of 2018. Because this will be proportional to the satisfaction of the students themselves. and it can also be assessed by other campuses that international class facilities are not as facilities but as supporters of the students themselves. and so that students can enjoy adequate facilities, at least the criticism given by students can be applied by ICAO to be able to improve existing facilities in the international class. Therefore, to be an evaluation material for Telkom University, they must pay attention to the care and neatness of each facility that has been provided by ICAO. and also students must help to be able to maintain the facility and help make the goals of Telkom University can be achieved. The maintained and clean facilities will also make the name of Telkom University good in the eyes of other universities. You could say the international class if the percentage of international students is greater than the regular students that are equal to 70% of 100%, and ICAO would be able to channel the opinions of international students to the study program. At least the small things that happen in the telecom environment itself such as parking a motorcycle that there is no change in the turn of the road.
